Weekly Couples & Marriage Counseling {traditional style}
Couples will find the most benefit if they can attend weekly. It is like exercise...the more consistent you are the better. We are stretching, strengthening, and toning new emotional muscles. Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a short-term model, typically lasting anywhere from 8-30 sessions. Short-term means that we don't want you in therapy forever. We want you to come, create change, and be on your way.
Initial couple session: 50 minutes
Individual session with each partner: 50 minutes
All following couple sessions: 50 minutes
Intensive Couples Counseling {I can't come weekly, but I still want to come}
Many cannot make a weekly commitment due to work, travel, or location. Just because you can't commit weekly doesn't mean you can't come at all. This model allows couples to do 2-6 sessions in one day or over a weekend and really dig-in to their relationship. This can be used as a way to jump start therapy and move into weekly or on a monthly or bi-monthly basis, sometimes with a check-in by phone, skype or email in the interim. This is tailored to your schedule and your needs.
Individuals:
Yes, I am a couples therapist, but I also work with individuals. My work with couples has taught me that every adult needs a constant partner, friend or companion. Yet many are missing this due to divorce, death, or not yet finding "the one." My work with individuals is attachment and relationship based with the ultimate goal of establishing secure attachments. I become a temporary attachment figure. Healing comes from experiencing emotions in a new way within the safety of this relationship. Clients learn to manage their emotions in a way that offers more peace and fulfillment. This new way of experiencing and managing emotion is eventually applied to establishing closer and more fulfilling relationships in the client's environment.
Individual sessions are 50 minutes.
Insurance:
I have a fee-for-service practice and am thus an out-of-network provider. Reimbursement for a portion of the session fees you pay may be available to you by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
- Do I have mental health benefits?
- How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?
- Does family or couples work qualify for these benefits?
- Is pre-authorization, pre-certification or treatment plan required from my insurance carrier?
Payment: Payment with cash or check is due at the time of service. Visa can be accepted at the session.
